Tanesia Simmons is a Founding School Leader at KIPP St. Louis High School. In her current position, Ms. Simmons primary goal is to drive academic and cultural outcomes for students and to develop talent within the building, which includes hiring, instructional coaching, and retention. Tanesia's career in education started in Chicago, IL with the Noble Network of Charter Schools at Muchin College Prep, where she served as the Founding Dean of Operations. In this founding role, she was responsible for helping to launch a high school by designing systems and overseeing all finance and operations functions necessary to run a high-performing school. This included budgeting, procurement, facilities, technology, student enrollment and attendance, student data, regulatory compliance, and academic operations support.
During her time at MCP, Tanesia also took on the role of AP US History Teacher, and ultimately became an Assistant Principal. In addition to completing a Relay National Principal Academy Fellowship, Tanesia holds a B.A. in Urban School Alternatives from DePaul University, and an M.Ed. from the University of Houston in Educational Administration and Supervision. |
